A Day in Taipei: Iconic Landmarks and Colorful Streets

I am still amazed with how my birthday trip to Taiwan went and I hope to give justification to the beauty of Taipei City through the photos I will share. But I hope you'll also see for yourself how beautiful these iconic landmarks in Taipei are. If you’re short on time, here’s a quick itinerary that covers some of the must-see spots in the city.

We're staying at Hotel Papa Whale, Taipei and Ximending is just a walking distance to the nearest MRT Station. It's best to come here early so that you can take photos without photobombers.

Ximending

Ximending Walking District and Rainbow Road

If you're staying along Wanhua District, the Ximending Walking District and Rainbow road is just nearby. Often called the “Harajuku of Taipei,” Ximending is a trendy area full of shops, street food vendors, and entertainment. It’s a great place to pick up unique souvenirs and try local snacks like bubble tea and fried chicken. Make your way to the colorful Ximending Rainbow Road. Painted in vibrant rainbow colors, this road celebrates diversity and inclusion, making it a perfect spot for photos.

The Red House

This is just across the Rainbow Road near Ximen Station exit 6 but we weren't able to go and take photos on this spot.  The Red House is a historic theater and one of the oldest in Taipei. Today, it’s a cultural hub filled with artisan shops, galleries, and weekend markets, showcasing local artists’ work.
